Why Don’t I Have a Spend Limit?
We understand it can be frustrating not to have a spend limit available. When deciding whether to offer you a spend limit, our system looks at several key factors — the two most important are identity verification and your credit profile.
1. We Couldn’t Verify Your Identity
Verifying your identity is one of our top priorities. This helps protect you — and others — from identity theft, which is a leading cause of fraud.
When you sign up with PayJustNow, we ask you to enter your full name and South African ID number exactly as they appear on your official ID document. We then check these details with the Department of Home Affairs to confirm that everything matches.
If we couldn’t verify your identity, it means the information you entered didn’t match government records — and for your protection, we can’t approve a spend limit without that match.
Important: As an added security and anti-risk measure, if you share a bank card or cellphone number with another PayJustNow customer, this may affect your eligibility. Each PayJustNow account must be uniquely linked to an individual’s personal and financial details to reduce the risk of fraud or account misuse.
2. Your Credit Risk Was Too High
Another reason you might not have a spend limit is due to the results of our credit risk assessment.
We use a variety of data sources to assess your credit profile. If our system finds that you have a high credit risk, we may not be able to approve you for a spend limit right now.
Here’s what you can do:
Check your credit score and ensure there are no negative listings (also called "adverse listings") on your profile.
As a South African consumer, you're entitled to one free credit report per year from any of the major credit bureaus.
If you find information that’s incorrect or outdated, you have the right to dispute it with the credit bureau directly.
If you discover that you simply don’t have a credit history yet, please let us know. We can try to re-assess your application using alternative data.
