How do the Late fees work?

Modified on Mon, 6 May at 10:30 AM

Rest assured, your instalments are always free of interest and fees, as long as you make your payments on time.

If you happen to miss a payment, don't worry. You have until the end of the day to set the right card as your default on your profile, and ensure it has enough funds to cover the instalment. This will help you avoid any late fees. You also have the option to manually make a payment for your instalment.

PayJustNow debits the (default) bank card you registered to your profile. We do allow a 24-hour grace period to help you fix the problem before our next attempt. Below are some common reasons why a payment fails:
  • Insufficient funds. It is recommended to use the card linked to the bank account that your salary is paid into.
  • Restricted/Lost/Expired Card. If your card was lost, or replaced recently, you may have forgotten to log in to your PayJustNow profile and register your replacement card. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid late fees accruing on our next debit attempt.
  • Insufficient daily banking limits. Some banks allow you to set a permanent daily limit. Please ensure that the daily limit in your app settings are set at a limit to be enough to cover your instalment.

Just so you don't forget, we always send an SMS reminder to your mobile number one day before your payment is due.

If a payment does get missed, we have to charge a reprocessing fee of R145 (incl VAT) each time we try again. We do this on a weekly basis, but these fees will never add up to more than 25% of the total transaction amount.

Remember, our business model is based on our shoppers making their payments, not missing them. We encourage and reward good payment behaviour over time, so keep your account current. Or, even better, use a cash flow tool to reach your next pay day and settle early.

Our goal is to help you avoid late fees. In addition to our late fee policy (which is meant to discourage late payments, not generate revenue), using PayJustNow is completely free for you - no monthly fees, and most importantly, zero interest.

If for any reason you can't meet your repayment obligation, it's important that you let us know. You can reach us at support@payjustnow.com at least 3 full working days before your payment is due, or chat with us using the live chat feature in our app during our operating hours. These can be viewed on our contact us page.
